Stomach Exercise Myths
There are quite a few myths regarding stomach exercises and when people believe these, they find that they are not losing weight. But knowing stomach exercise myths will help you to avoid the pitfalls that happen when following the stomach exercise myths and become more successful in trying to lose the weight around your waist.
-
Spot Toning – One of the biggest myths that people believe about stomach exercises and losing weight is that you should do spot toning. What is spot toning? This is basically doing only exercises which are working that part where you want to lose weight, such as your stomach.
The truth is that you aren’t going to simply lose weight in your stomach just by training your stomach alone. It just isn’t going to work. In other words, you have to work your entire body to burn all excess fat. Even if you do 1000 crunches, you are going to build up your muscles, yes, but it does nothing to get rid of the layer of fat that hides them.
If you want to lose weight in your stomach, do cardio exercises and eat lots of healthy food in order to get your metabolism going and therefore you will burn the calories and rid yourself of that fat.
-
Eat Yourself Silly and Work it Off – The second myth that people believe is that if they work it all off then they can eat whatever they want. This goes along with the myth listed above. If you don’t work to get rid of the fat that is covering your stomach by eating healthy, you will have great abs but no one will see them because they are going to be buried by the fat in your stomach. Stay away from fast and processed food and eat healthy, along with exercising, and you will see the fruits of your labor.
-
Exercising Abs Right Way – Another huge myth that people believe about exercising their stomach is that they have to do a whole bunch of crunches fast. The truth is that you will get better results with crunches that are slow and controlled. You will do better doing 3 or 4 sets of slow, quality crunches than doing 200 or 300 in rapid succession.
-
Give Up if Don’t Lose Weight – A lot of people believe the myth that they should simply give up if they exercise and don’t lose any weight because of it. They think that there’s no point and that they aren’t getting any benefit from their exercise because they haven’t’ lost any weight. But this is a very dangerous myth. The truth is that even if you don’t lose any weight, you are still doing something great for your body. There are two good reasons why you should keep exercising even if you don’t lose weight right away.
Lower Chance of Disease – One of the biggest reasons to exercise is because it’s going to help your body’s insulin to enter the cells of your body, lowering your diabetes risk. It also lowers triglycerides, raises your HDL(good cholesterol), and improving the mechanisms of blood clotting. This means you have a lower chance of heart disease.
Better Quality of Your Life – The second reason to keep exercising is that you will feel your life improving. You are going to feel better during your day, you are going to sleep better at night, and you are going to have less anxiety and depression.
As you can see, there are more good reasons to exercise than simply to lose weight.
-
Strength Training Equals Muscular Women – When women think of strength training, they picture themselves as those women who are bulked up as much as men are and are lifting way too much weight over their heads. But the truth is that most women are not going to come even close to looking like that doing normal strength training due to the fact that that their testosterone levels are much lower. The women body builders taken supplements and steroids to look the way they do.
Strength training is good for women due to the fact that they have less muscle and bone than men do, so it’s important for them to make sure they’re taking care of what they have. That’s also the reason why you hear more about women having osteoporosis. Loss of bone and muscle is a big reason why women become disabled.
-
You’re Going to Gain Weight as you Get Older – This final myth is one that a lot of people believe and they often use it as an excuse. But this is preventable. The reason that people gain weight as they get older is that they aren’t as active physically and they are losing muscle, so the metabolic rate drops. Even simple exercises can reverse this problem by doing even simple exercises. If you just exercise a half an hour three days per week, you will regain your muscle as well. You do not have to be overweight when you are older. All you have to do is make sure that you are eating right and that you are exercising.
If you read any of these myths online or you hear someone giving you advice based on these myths, now you know the truth about them. Stomach exercises carry many myths with them and believing the myths can be dangerous and can also have you spinning in circles. Belly fat is something that a lot of people have to deal with, thanks to our lifestyles and our job schedules. But if you remember to eat healthy and exercise you will find that belly fat doesn’t have to be a part of your life and that you will feel much better about yourself.
